Anthony “Tony” Stokely, age 85, passed away on August 22, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on June 28, 1941, in Houston, Texas, to Ruben and Antoinette Stokely.
Tony was raised in Houston and Taylor, Texas, as well as Sacramento, California. He attended Texas State Technical Institute in Waco, Texas.
Tony proudly served his country in the United States military. He served during the Vietnam War, attained the rank of Master Sergeant, and served three years in the Marine Corps, with 17 years of Army service.
After his military service, Tony worked as a supervisor in non-destructive testing. He later owned and operated an air-conditioning company, Cool Service, where he worked for more than 15 years.
Tony married Sheryl (Kollman) Stokely in 1980, and together they raised five children. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. He also participated in Run for the Wall, combining his love of motorcycles with his dedication to honoring and supporting veterans.
Family and friends will always remember Tony as a strong, thoughtful, helpful, and kind man who always had a smile on his face. His warmth, generosity, and love for those around him will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Bruce Stokely and Andrew Stokely; his sister, Patricia Stokely; and his parents, Antoinette and Ruben Stokely.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Sheryl Stokely; his daughters, Jullie Lawerence and Susan Stokely; his son, Steven Stokely; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, service, and devotion to his family and country.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
